Henry Horn aged 50 of Dayton Ohio was found dead Tuesday morning in a boarding house at 399 N Meridian Street. Coroner Blackwell investigates with suspicion he may have taken poison. Horn was a state agent for the Keytesa Lock Company of Dayton. The exact cause of death is unknown.
Ransom Tarkington was fined 500 dollars and sentenced to 180 days in the workhouse by Judge Stubbs for neglecting his 15 year old daughter. The judge noted Tarkington knew the child's grandfather and referenced the accused’s wife leaving him to live with a black man resulting in two mixed race children. Tarkington later boarded with his former wife and her partner.
J C Reynolds general manager of the traction lines operated by Hugo J Mc Gowan was stricken with paralysis Tuesday morning. Reported at his home 2103 North Alabama Street in the afternoon he was in a critical condition and recovery was doubtful.
Lawrence Alfrey of Company 4 Tenth Infantry was killed Monday night when a Knickerbocker passenger train struck him while he walked on tracks between Lawrence and Spring Valley en route to Fort Benjamin Harrison. Corporal Gilespie was with him as Alfrey failed to move off the line a second time, leaving a widowed mother and sisters at Mount Comfort.

The Madras mail train from Minjur to Ennore derailed near Madras today. Twelve people were killed and fourteen injured, with responders taking the wounded to a local hospital and bodies recovered by rescue parties.
Henry H. Wheatley aged 76 a Civil War veteran died Monday at 5512 Lowell Avenue Irvington from complications. He belonged to Gordon Post 6 A. R. The funeral will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Emanuel Baptist Church. He leaves a widow a son and a daughter.

The purse Ralph Blanchard said was stolen by a woman on Saturday night at Monninger's saloon on Ohio and Illinois streets has been found lying on the floor. The contents were undisturbed.

The state supreme court heard oral argument in Colbert versus Wheeler over custody of capitol keys. Colbert, a Democrat appointed custodian of the statehouse, seeks access to the capitol from Wheeler, Republican superintendent of public buildings and grounds.
