Top hog price reached $8.30 with most hogs selling around $8.00 to $8.25, while cattle and sheep showed varied shifts and steady to strong demand for certain grades.

New York July 22 A fractional stock recovery began at the open and continued in early trading. Stee common rose in all, Amalgamated Copper and Union Pacific advanced as readings showed initial strength. Reading prices dipped after initial gains while Rock Island and Erie issues stayed firm. By 15 minutes in the market kept a strong undertone.
Cash prices for grain in Chicago reflect bids for tea and corn across several grades. No 2 tea wires at 1.13 to 1.18 percent. No 2 corn white at 7 cents with various No 3 and No 4 grades. oats No 2 white around 52 cents and No 4 white near 49 cents.
Toledo grain market notes list cash and futures quotes for wheat, corn, oats, and rye. It shows September and December wheat bids, July and December corn, July oats, and cash prices around 60 to 74 cents for the commodities.
Union Stockyards receipts reach about 15 000 hogs with the market 10 cents lower than yesterday's average. Mixed and butcher hogs trade at steady to soft prices with a bulk around 7.80 to 8.05 per hundredweight.
A West Jersey freight train collided with a Central Railroad flat car at Bridgeton Junction New Jersey. Engineer Frank B. Peacock and brakeman Herbert Hines died. Frank Tretans was badly injured. The wreck destroyed the engine and five boxcars and delayed traffic for hours.

Thomas Scott a 22 year old alleged professional pickpocket was sentenced by Judge Pritchard to the Indiana reformatory for two to 11 years. He targeted James E. Bennett at a circus sideshow in Indianapolis after Bennett grabbed his wrist and handed him to officers. Scott previously served terms in Cincinnati and New Orleans work houses and reportedly followed circuses nationwide.
