A 20 000 crowd greeted William Jennings Bryan on Friday night in Lincoln Nebraska cheering with whistles bells bells and banners. Bryan and family stayed at the home after a civic reception at the state house and he pledged to set up personal headquarters in Lincoln for the campaign.
The planned appearance of Mr. Bryan in Omaha for a Saturday demonstration has been delayed at the request of the Omaha Democratic manager to allow more time for preparation. Uncertainty surrounds the event and its address in Sewell Lincoln Neb.

On July 21 Lawrenceburg Kentucky section men found two mutilated bodies ten miles south in a cut near the Bergen branch of the Southern railway. A young man and a young woman lay with heads on the rail, likely victims of their own actions or intoxication. Inquest suggested the pair were Joseph Tropper and wife from near Dowden Wyoming. A pistol was found. verdict death by own action.

Silan Mount found a counterfeit ten dollar coin in a trash barrel and shared it around before selling it back for ten cents. Lottie Sanders carried the coin, showed it to friends, and reported it to police after it was deemed fake. Mount and Frantz were arrested. Mount faced possible penalties, while Frantz was released on bond.
Authorities report a surge in licenses issued with 10 824 bicycle licenses by noon Saturday, far surpassing 5 019 in 1895. Frictionless demand continues as hundreds more are expected before year end. George Meitz confessed to setting fire to the Kinney livery stable on Washington street. He waived examination in police court and was bound over to the grand jury under $2000. He said he acted from despair over unemployment and attempted to replace Kinney’s horse with a common stock animal before burning the stable. He fled, returned when smoke appeared, and was later arrested with Minnie Easter. Both were sent to the workhouse. Meitz was released and later re-arrested for arson.

The victim killed in a Haughville car collision on Wednesday night is identified as William Barnette. A Franklin township trustee alerted authorities, noting Barnette sought transportation earlier in the week, and a detailed description matched the body. The remains were turned over to a medical college after no one claimed them.

Jacob Nerenberg remains in critical condition at his home on S Molinoissi after an assault by John Howard about a week ago. Howard's case was called in police court Saturday but a doctor’s certificate of condition led to a continued hearing into the morning.
