Louis Durbin a dishwasher at an Illinois street restaurant was fined one dollar and costs in police court after reporting women hanging from windows and a scandalous neighborhood scene at 318 West Washington Street. The mayor ordered a police raid on the Lilite Darrow residence reported by Durbin.
Humane inspector Frank Wilson warns heat harms urban work horses more than drivers as asphalt loafing worsens loads. He cites 3100 pound wagon pulls, a proposed ban on docking and summer clipping, horses hats, and a future humane law by Horace McKay to curb tail docking and related abuses.

A county treasury record shows 154 residents paid delinquent taxes in two and a half hours on Monday after notices were sent. Cashier Smith reports frightened residents offering excuses, including mislaid notices and prior residency. A man who claimed never to pay taxes settled six years of back dues. Collectors began serving levy notices nationwide with a five day grace period.
The State tax board met Monday morning with members Hunt Hart Durbin Parks Martin Wingate to organize. Frank Martin was elected secretary and Senator Ogborn acts as stenographer. The 45 day session will not be exceptionally busy with no real estate appraisal or new laws. Electric railways are to be considered first, including Terre Haute Electric Railway Union Traction Hammond Whiting East Chicago Electric Fort Wayne Traction and Indiana Railway.
Cleveland July 15 The United States postal authorities seek the owner of five cents found with a peculiar note. A May 23 1902 letter sent to 56 Clintonst bore no name yet claimed to pay for pears stolen last summer. Held 30 days then sent to Washington if unclaimed.
The city controller began disbursing the sinking fund by paying 2000 toward the West Indianapolis school debt after annexation. About 13000 remains in the fund. Officials doubt Irvington school debt will be shifted to the school board, noting Irvington borrowed 19000 for school use and facing resistance from the law department.

In nearby storm reports, Mrs. Hiser suffers relief from toothache after a lightning shock while closing a window. Mrs. Hitchcock loses consciousness for 15 minutes when lightning travels along a wire.
Leonard G Neigh bour of Califon New Jersey was buried on Monday. Ten widows accompanied the funeral procession. He was the youngest of ten children five boys and five girls. All the boys are dead but the girls are living and widowed. The widows of his brothers and his own wife are living as well.

A Madison excursion package offers a round trip steamboat ride with a 25 cent return on the Ohio River. The Indianapolis to Madison special departs at 7 30 a m and returns from Madison at 6 p m on Sunday July 20. Tickets cost 1 25 each way.
