First Outing for Humber 677 Children at Fairview Park

Fifteen children, ten with mothers, rode an electric train from Union depot to Fairview for a Mission grounds outing. Dr. Oliver checked for contagions, nurses attended, and a twofold goal emerged: cool relief on a hot day and medical guidance for needy families. Pastor Milburn donated a large basket, and the camp planned six tents plus a pavilion as staff, ice, and provisions expanded.

Train Crash Near Smithville Hits Passengers Hard

A freight train and the Louisville New Albany Chicago local collided on the Smithville hill at 8 15 in Bloomington Indiana. The freight derailed and injures numbered at least a dozen with several described as fatally hurt. Conductor Win Brown and Grant Johnson were severely injured among many others.
