Gomez crossed the drocha to consult with the Cuban government in Camaguey, warning of large bribes to Cuban leaders and implying Blanco’s mission may fail. Spaniards expect a crisis as Madrid hopes for Gomez’s decision.

Cleveland January 27 A divorce suit to separate Carrie May Hanna from Daniel Rhodes Hanna, son of Senator M A Hanna, cites gross neglect and extreme cruelty. The couple eloped in 1887 and have two boys now with Mrs Hanna. Dan Hanna, a Cleveland social figure, heads business interests and appears active in clubs and events. The case follows reports of distant residences and a fractured marriage.
A suit filed in superior court on Thursday by Indiana Bermudez Asphalt Company seeks 82,000 in damages from the street car company. It claims pavement on Washington Street from Michigan Avenue to State Street, laid in August 1895 with a five year guarantee, has required $1,500 in repairs due to bad street car tracks that caused the pavement to oscillate and crack.
G. W. Lawrence owner of the Hotel English news and cigar stand is under arrest for allegedly passing two counterfeit silver dollars to saloonkeeper Moninger on separate occasions. He claims illness caused him to pocket the counterfeits and later forget he had them, intending to surrender them to authorities.

Benjamin Franklin Wilson a famed merchant police officer known for courage and honesty died Wednesday at his residence 27 Maple. Born in Sestt county he worked on his father’s farm before military service. He joined Indian aso and later Musk Wis press- 1877 he owned the merchant police and served until his death. He defended the Commission House district during a riot at Mozart hall using a cane that earned him a new cane from the hall owner. Survived by his wife Maria Shepard four sons his mother and three sisters. He was 62 and had been ill with rheumatism. Funeral arrangements to be announced.
Mrs Annie Mather Buchanen the police matron of Indianapolis for five years and Mr Alexander W Logan of Akron were married by Rev J Cumming Smith at Tabernacle Presbyterian. Guests included relatives from Fairland and Marion County. The groom, 45, is an engineer on the Home railroad. the bride previously supervised the Indiana Girls Reformatory and served as police matron in Indianapolis. They plan to relocate to Akron, Ohio aboard the Whickerbocker at 6:25 pm.
