Worn Out Mendicant Taken to County Asylum

Ninety five year old William Lincoln after a life of misfortune and dissipation agreed Friday to enter the county asylum. A charity official accompanied him from his home at 125 Wentucky avenue to the institution, noting he is a chronic vagrant with no remaining income or family contact. He recalled past prosperity as a clothing store runner and a happier married life, but a railroad accident, loss of work, and his wife’s death led to years of drink and decline. He asked for whiskey in medicine but cannot obtain liquor now.
