Eight Hour Day Demand Discussed by Anthracite Delegates
Delegates from the anthracite field indicate an agitation for an eight hour day may be raised at the coal convention. They doubt straight wage increases will be requested but say eight hours could imply higher pay equal to the ten hour rate. Despite a recent pay rise won through a strike, they feel miners still deserve more. A smoker for delegates is planned by the A O H county council, with many delegates staying at the Occidental hotel and wearing miners badges as the convention proceeds.
