The towboat Percy Kelsey owned by W. H. Brown & Sons exploded its boilers opposite Glenfield borough ten miles west of Pittsburg on Saturday morning. Captain U S Jones and about five crew members were killed with other fatalities and many injured. The boat carried coal toward Louisville and fragments rained onto nearby streets as rescuers moved in.
