Mrs. Charles Fred of 391 Adams street was assaulted at an early hour Monday and $89 taken from under her pillow. Her 18 year old son Charles Fred was arrested and detained on a further investigation charge after police learned the money belonged to roomer Orville McClaren. The crime followed a prior burglary of McClaren’s trunk, with earlier suspicion pointed at Fred.
After 280 days on release from Marion county workhouse Mickey White and George Hunt face rearrest on petit larceny charges for stealing shoes. With them, Snake Shea alias Joe and Thomas O Neil were found sleeping in a room at 462L%% E Washington st by Sergt Larsh and Officers Hoste tter and Dugan. The others received fines and sentences.
John W. Friday as administrator sues Vandalia for 10000 damages claiming Frank Trusgnich was scalded while digging a sewer under the tracks and driven insane. The suit contends a later death on the same tracks resulted from that injury. Attorney Alvah Rucker notes the filing presents important legal issues.

The judge noted his long service and responsibility to his six children before sentencing him to one day in jail and a fine of 1 dollar plus 213.25 costs.
