President Roosevelt Named as Witness in Trial
In New York on December 24, a trial opened in the supreme court with President Roosevelt named as a witness. Mrs. Gertrude Motley seeks removal of 25,000 she says she entrusted to Cornelius Roosevelt, the president’s first cousin, during a Paris visit. She also asks the surrogate court to appoint an administrator for Cornelius Roosevelt’s estate. he died in New York while visiting relatives on February 15. Motley is described as very wealthy, splitting time between New York and Paris.
