Fire of unknown origin at 336 W Washington Street early Thursday morning damaged the Granger store and goods by about 1000 dollars. Firemen broke in iron barred doors after discovering the blaze around 5 am as smoke filled the store room and flames issued from the first floor center threatening the entire building.
Organizers in Indianapolis scoured the city to ensure no one went without a proper Christmas dinner. The Salvation Army prepared about 3,900 dinners in baskets for 700 homes, with deliveries starting at 4 30 a.m. Thursday.
