Tragic notes of a Cincinnati couple’s struggle ends in death

Taylor Doty aged 32 of 267 Massachusetts Ave attempted suicide Monday night by laudanum and chloroform. His wife found him and Dr. Castor fought for hours before Doty died Tuesday. They had moved from Cincinnati five weeks earlier where he was well employed, but he lost work here and financial strain grew. The couple’s hardship is described as a pathetic domestic tale with a note indicating his intent.

It May Prove Costly Fun Arrests In Assault Case

Thomas Blackwell Thomas Noone and John Finley are under arrest on assault and battery and malicious trespass charges. They allegedly visited Nancy Taylor at 150 West McCarty Street Sunday evening and disturbed her, with a confrontation leading to her striking one man. A staged warrant later abducted the husband, followed by vandalism at the Taylor home before the men fled. The trio denies the allegations and their cases were continued until Saturday.

Second Victim Mary Corbett Dies After Gas Fumes

Mary Corbett and her mother Catherine Corbett were overcome by escaping gas at 329 Prospect Street. Mary died Tuesday morning after initially seeming to recover. the coroner or investigators offered no comment on whether the deaths were accidental. A double funeral was planned at St Patrick's Church with Colier and Murphy in charge.

Co M Biddel of 4 Pleasant Street struck Daniel Hennessy aged 67 in the head with an iron hook during a quarrel at the Vandalia freight house. In police court Judge Cox noted it was near murder and fined Biddel $23 despite his prior good character.

Carpenter Suffering Ptomaine Poisoning After Undercooked Pork

Co J Clodfelter a carpenter in Wilson block room 11 bought a pork steak Saturday evening and cooked it for Sunday. He fell ill soon after and lay alone until neighbors found him Monday forenoon.
