An Indianapolis and Cincinnati Traction interurban car overturned near Acton when an open switch sent it careening. One man, Don Sleeth of Shelbyville, died instantly after being crushed beneath heavy timbers. Frank McCrea of Rock Lane was severely injured. Thomas Colley of Acton sustained minor injuries. motorman August Batteral and conductor James Aureci escaped harm. Deputy coroner Dr. Daniel Adams began an investigation to determine why the switch was left open. James Clemons, Greensburg, said the car traveled about 39 mph and overturned after striking a pole, with many passengers injured but largely dazed andable to exit later.

Not Enough Cash For Institutions In Indiana State Report
