James Garrett of Evansville shot his wife in the jaw at 626 E Twelfth St Indianapolis and aimed at their son but a defective cartridge saved the boy. Garrett then killed himself with a bullet to the temple at City hospital where he died. Mrs Garrett and the boy survived with the mother to recover.
