Man Hangs Self in Cellar Home
Thomas Ward aged 58, inspector for John Martin brick contractor, hanged himself Sunday morning in the cellar of his home at 765 W Waintt St. His son found the body at 9:30. Ward had shown insanity for a month with delusions about his wife and son being ill. He tied a rope to a joist, then fell backward. He believed his son was sick and needed a doctor. The heat is blamed for mental instability. Ward had heat-related issues about a year ago and had worked at an insane hospital recently. He was born in Ireland, lived in Indianapolis most of his life, and had spent 35 years with Martin. Survived by a widow and son. The Inquirer notes Grover Cleveland is 64, born March 18, 1837. Bernice Davis hosted many friends Wednesday afternoon for Miss Della Chambers of New York.
