Mabini, paralytic, refuses allegiance and favors exile over being governed by others. In Madrid Monet claims Moros unbeatable on their soil and urges a peaceful accord with Chaffee.
An Indianapolis dispatch claims a young man Vernon Halders left $18 000 to Miss Maria Hull of Los Angeles after loving her from childhood. No such death appears in city records. Hull, 18, plans to use the fortune to attend Vassar. She will travel east to claim the money and honor his last wish.
Mother Jones says wives of striking miners will march on Washington with a body to press labor relief and a popular congress when the current congress meets. She travels from Milwaukee to Indianapolis en route to Charlestown and Kanawha river country under orders from Secretary Wilson.
Contractor H A Mansfield reported the Big Michigan Street sewer is finished. It spans 11 815 feet, eight feet in diameter at the mouth, drains about 1 200 acres, cost 95 918 70 dollars, and was contracted in 1901 with completion on time. The project opens developable eastern real estate by draining Crooked Run and enabling new bridges, roads, and lots. Final assessments will be approved soon and property owners will learn their shares. The Board of Works will inspect the sewer shortly.
