A trolley car struck by a high speed train at Longjumeau near Paris last night left sixteen dead and twenty injured. The crash demolished the car, with twelve instant fatalities and five more dying of wounds later in the day.
Mrs. Mary Copley Thaw in White Plains says she would prefer Bloomingdale for her son over Matteawan and expects Justice Mills to free Harry. She plans to stay until the case ends and believes proceedings have been fair. If not released, she suggests institutional care under judge oversight.
Lieut Dennis Coll of hook and ladder unit No 2 resigned after the Board of Safety inquiry was announced. The trouble began when drug clerk Halleck Ranger tried to eject a disorderly group led by Selig Josephs. Josephs was fined for vandalism after injuring his hand on broken glass during the scuffle.
Constantinople reports leaders of Britain Russia France and Italy meet in Terapia to address the Cretan dispute and prevent war between Turkey and Greece. President Taft golfed at the Essex Club with Major Boardman as he takes a vacation day. He had earlier been visited by Former Minister Van Swinderen of the Netherlands and received a congratulatory cable from Cameron Forbes on the Philippines tariff measures.
The County Amusement committee of the A O H announces Irish Day in Germania Park Indianapolis on Thursday August 12. Free field events begin at 2 p m and run to 11 p m with amusement for all ages and an all day picnic atmosphere in the park. The day honors the Yellow Ford victory and depends on favorable weather for success.

The body of Anna Schumacher was found half buried in Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Rochester on Sunday. She had left home Saturday to decorate a relative’s grave, and police traced a heel print to the grave before discovery. Coroner Kleindest opened an investigation as deputies aided the search and autopsy was planned.
Bruce Maxwell manager of Consumers Fuel and Maxwell Improvement was fined ten dollars plus costs in police court for interfering with an officer. He plans to press charges against bicycle officer Mullin for rough treatment during the arrest of Wright and others at 20 N Liberty Street.
In juvenile court Judge Stubbs urged Adolph Emhardt to assist in resolving the Steffen case. He ordered Mr. Steffen to pay weekly support for four younger children and discussed divorce as a remedy if reconciliation failed. Mrs. Steffen denied charges of infidelity amid accusations of abuse and drinking.
County Treasurer Robison told the county commissioners that on Aug 1 the books showed 195505 in the treasury. He noted past year reductions improved finances and predicted Marion County would be in the best financial condition in years after the November installment, with 84845 of the total in the bridge fund.

A North Side girl and a companion were found at William Schroder's road house on Thirty third Street and Sutherland Avenue. Patrolman Todd and Dickerson along with Ser geant Leet arrested Schroder after a lively scene in the garden. The girl's father woke to find her home with a police sergeant and Schroder will be tried Friday in police court.
G R Harrison Abram Harrison and Isaac Hittle of Acton Indiana joined a 12 member class to take the fourth through seventh degrees in Masonry at the Masonic temple. The event began at 10 a.m. and extended to midnight finishing with the Royal Arch degree.
Lee Watson and James Morgan, both vying for Mrs. Ellen Betcher, were arrested after Morgan warned police of an alleged illicit relationship. Mrs. Betcher was fined and jailed, Watson sent to the workhouse, and the 12 year old daughter cited in the case. Morgan faced juvenile court for alleged crimes against the girl. A separate break in at Ye Ark saloon on East Ohio Street yielded ten dollars and three bottles of whisky.
