Rev and Mrs W T Anderson and six children depart Indiana for Punjab India to serve eight and a half years. They sail from New York via Naples Genoa Trieste to Bombay arriving October 19 then travel 1500 miles inland to Sialkot and Rawat Pindi, the largest military station in Punjab. Helen and Aurel Anderson remain in Indiana for schooling.

Green Township Man and His Good Stiff Hat
Israel Learn of Green township owns a prized stiff hat bought in Indiana 43 years ago for his marriage day. He wore it yesterday on business as time’s cycle returns it to fashion. The hat’s label shows it was made in 1868. Learn, his wife, and granddaughter Pluma traveled 126 miles through Clearfield county to visit friends and attend the DuBois fair in a two seated survey drawn by a horse.

Luck Favored Lytle in Nitro Glycerine Hauling
William Lytle of Tunnelton narrowly escaped disaster while transporting 2000 pounds of nitro glycerine from West Penn Torpedo Co to a magazine on the Three Degree road. A wheel fell away near Saltsbury and a road impact failed to trigger an explosion. An auto crash near the magazine damaged the wagon but the explosive again did not detonate.

Normal opened yesterday with the largest fall term attendance in school history. The main dormitory houses many girl students and the Smith properties on Railroad Avenue are occupied by the young women. Enrollment occupied yesterday, with full departmental work starting today. Miss Selma My Ronald, Con servatory instructor, is ill with typhoid at her Millvale home. In church matters Rev. Ralston of West Union is called to Du Bois. Rev. J. M. Adair to moderate the call. Dr. J. A. Wilson of Allegheny Theological Seminary will preach at First United Presbyterian Church with morning and evening services. Dr. Wilson is a leading divine. his visit is welcome. Fire retarded the vandalism and gawnull of David Hawk of Less Ridge last week.

Auto Driven by Blairsville Girl Leaped Embankment
Miss Mabel Miller of Blairsville, with three others and a mechanic, drove off a 20 foot embankment near Latrobe while returning from Idlewild. The car halted after about 100 feet on level ground with no serious injuries or damage. It traveled about 30 mph. Miller shut off power and used the emergency brake. County officials attended a state convention in Wellsboro seeking to land the 1911 meeting for Indiana. Mrs. J T Stewart, once ill, is now in Indiana hospital after an operation, improving in strength though still recovering from shock.

Trouble for Brumbaugh in Freeport shooting case
Henry Brumbaugh, a former West Penn railroad relief conductor, is jailed on a serious charge by Marie Walsh of Windber, who says he betrayed her at Wehrum. Elkin families hold first reunion in Smicksburg area
The first annual Elkin family reunion gathered about 250 members at Coleman’s Grove Goodville on Friday despite threatened weather. Francis Elkin of Smicksburg was elected president and Prof James F. Chapman of Indiana as organizer, with stories of Elkin ancestry traced to William of Orange in England and emigration to Western Pennsylvania in 1853. A July reunion is planned, and committees were formed for arrangements.
