Indiana County Fair Opens With 40 Acre Grounds In Full Bloom
The 48th annual Indiana County Agricultural Society fair kicked off on Thursday under azure skies and warm sunshine. On the 40 acre grounds visitors view dealer exhibits from Work & Son pianos to Indiana Hardware Co stoves, plus livestock displays, horse barns, and a pyramid of flowers. Races are scheduled for Wednesday through Friday with numerous entrants listed from Indiana and nearby townships.

The Indiana County Agricultural Society bought ten acres adjoining the southeast of the fair grounds along Armagh road. The land, purchased from T. J. Humes of Homer City, cost 150 dollars per acre. With the acquisition the grounds total 50 acres and may expand further to the southwest in the near future.

Road accident injures Homer City visitors a buggy overturns
Martin Runch Mrs 5 A Rumbaugh and daughter Zella from Homer City were slightly injured when a horse plunged a wagon overturning the buggy en route to Brush Hollow. The buggy wrecked and the Rumbaugh party escaped serious harm. Lee Brown of East Mahoning township suffered a severe hand injury while leading a cow. the animal pulled and tore off his left thumb.

Death Cammy in Peculiar Black Poison Case
Dr James Wain of Smicksburg and well known in the county died in Kittanning hospital from blood poisoning after a copperhead bite on his left hand while treating a cow. He was 34, a veterinary surgeon, survived by his wife and six children. Funeral held in Smicksburg.
