Robbers at Blairsville Engaged in Freight Car Raid
A gang of armed robbers attacked Blairsville stores on a Wednesday night and then attempted looting at Kiski Junction. Railroad Detective Peters engaged them in a gunfight, wounding four, with three captured and two fleeing. Peters himself was shot in the leg but recovered. The gang, described as negro thieves, were detained in Freeport lockup.

Obadiah McCutcheon formerly of Center Township and Munhall dies after an elevator accident in the Mariners Bank Building Pittsburg Friday. He was injured when the elevator rose after passengers alighted on the eighth floor and he attempted to exit. Left leg crushed chest injuries fatal. He reportedly unsafely attempted to exit before stopping and died at hospital. A woman claiming to be his wife arrived seeking burial at Johnstown, but friends deny marriage. Estate valued at $30,000.

Attempt to Burn Hotel at Clarksburg Sparks Fire
An unknown arsonist lit a newspaper stuffed between joists in the Hotel Mahan at Clarksburg early Friday, causing about 300 in damage. The building was entered via an outside cellar stair, a hole in plaster exposed the scene, and no definite clue to the incendiaries was found. Deputy Game Warden H H Almes had pursued lawbreakers, and townspeople acted quickly to extinguish the blaze.

COG WHEELS CRUSH FINGERS AT DECKERS POINT
Frank Sheesley, operator of a shop ping mill at Deckers Point, lost two fingers and sustained severe injury to another when his glove was caught in machinery. His right hand was drawn between cog wheels, the second and little fingers required amputation, and the index finger was cut at the second joint. An earlier accident had required amputation of a finger on the same hand.

Handsome New School Plans Selected By New Castle Board
New Castle men C. C. and A. Thayer submitted plans for a new public school. Over 20 architects competed, with final design costing 65 000 excluding furnishings. The four story stone and brick building will include a rotunda, 16 classrooms, staff rooms, and separate toilet areas, plus basement space for gymnasium or other departments. A Friday evening tie social at Hutcheson school house near Armagh raised 28 dollars 50 cents for Mrs. Kate Lonthar the oldest woman in West Wheatfield township. Committee members C G Mack J A Hutchison and Miss Bertha Mack oversaw the event which funded two stoves and other comforts for the veteran hermit who has lived a secluded life in a wooded area for over 32 years. Her neighbors have provided basic needs and previously built a new home for her.
