An attempted burglary targeted Ernest Livingston’s Maple Street home early Friday. A back door lock showed picking while the intruder tried the front door. Livingston fired from a second floor window as the thief fled. Police may pursue leads from seven burglarized Blairsville area homes later Thursday.
Local on- way passenger fares on the Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh railway were cut to two and a half cents per mile from three cents. The railroad has long offered 1000 mile tickets at $20, valid for any number of travelers and usable across connecting lines, with mileage tickets promoting the lower rate.
