Indiana County voters authorize a Poor Farm purchase and operation by the County Commissioners. They may buy the farm tools stock and equipment and issue bonds. The farm will be near the county seat for central access and the treasurer will manage the funds.
Indiana's new industry opens this week in a three story frame building once J C Conner's lumber store. The plant includes a display room across the alley and a basement blacksmith shop with wood working painting and rubbing rooms on upper floors. R F Ross is plant manager and orders already booked with the repair department busy.
Advertising that pays shows in lost and stray notices. Mrs. J O Lydick recovered a pocketbook after seeing a Lost notice in The Progress. J Milton Johnston reclaimed cattle after reading a Procrastound ad. The paper touts a 4000 plus circulation as value for advertisers.
The week’s wills include John Walker of Armstrong township bequeathing his farm surface and personal property to son Israel with widow’s lifelong support, $50 each to daughters Matilda Emma Jessie Lottie, and coal sale proceeds to sons Scott Grant Israel James and grandson Frank. Mary G Rankin of Blacklick township leaves $500 to Blacklick Presbyterian Church paid over five years, $100 to Lutheran Graceton chapel, $300 to Alexander Rankin and $100 each to his wife and three daughters Gertrude Carrie Fanny, furniture to William Rankin, other bequests to nephews William D A and Charles Rankin, monument funds, and equal shares to Fanny and Cora Rankin. C McCrea named executor. Will dates are April 27, 1905 and November 24, 1905.
Indiana parties hunt two weeks in the mountains for bear and deer in Huntingdon and Center counties. Participants include D A Hervick James N Stewart James Simpson Fred Horlinger J Conn er Frank Gilmore James S Kauffman Dr C8 Pearce and others joining at Harrisburg. Additional hunters travel to Snow Shoe and Cherryhill township headquarters at Carl Yuckenberg farm for the expedition.
A team owned by Charles Shields of Conemaugh township ran away after being frightened by an automobile. The horses dashed down Philadelphia street, struck a telephone pole at the Indiana House, splintering the buggy tongue and breaking the front axle and harness. Mr and Mrs Shields were not in the buggy.
Miss Lavina Townsend of South Bend hosted a house party last week with guests John W Stewart and wife of town GC bk Beatty and wife of Turtle Creek and Mrs N B Pinney of Brookville. A foreigner injured at Josephile Thursday by falling from an lore tower with name not learned.
Archibald Tomb of New Florence aged 70 died Thursday night at 11 00 after a brief illness He was a former wagon maker and election judge survived by his wife and daughter Elizabeth along with four brothers Funeral services led by Rev J M Coglay were held at the Tomb home and interment was in Armagh Willian Long of Pittsburgh aged 87 died Sunday of kidney trouble He was Civil War veteran and a carpenter survived by an adopted son W Hi Long two brothers and a sister Harry Silas Long and Elizabeth Long Henry Campbell aged 79 died at home near Belsano after a lingering illness His wife Miss Hall of Homer City survives Naomi Compton sister of the deceased.
Miss Linnie Tuttle of Flora had her left ring finger amputated by Dr. Grube of Punt Sutawney after a fish hook injury at Buffalo. What began as a minor wound led to blood poisoning over three months, swelling the finger to the size of a hen's egg before surgery.
Edward Empield, current landlord of the Anderson House in Cresson, has bought the Indiana House from Joseph Hines for 35000 dollars. The new proprietor takes charge next month and plans extensive improvements including remodeling of the entire building. Empield, born in Penn Run and once a resident of Indiana, previously ran a Cresson drug store and later served as cashier at the First National Bank of Cresson.
Mr and Mrs William Johnston of Vandergrift hosted about forty friends Friday evening for their fifteenth wedding anniversary with social games and a late lunch. Henry A Iisher and wife near Punxsutawney celebrated forty six years with a gathering of over 100 and gifts from family. George Robinson of Lt C Robinson Ben marble dealers in Sinicksburg visited Oakland cemetery to mark Mary McClusky’s grave. Cherrytree adds a Sunday train schedule on Pennsylvania railroad from Cherryton to Crosson. County Treasurer Louis McMasters pony died of pneumonia, once valued at 160 dollars. J N Sickenberger of Honor City lost part of three fingers at Incubator Works.
A regular civil list opened Monday with Judge Talford presiding. First case is Clark Plies and Clarence Hart vs John Plies et al. over ejectment to recover a house and lot in Salisbury. Many cases continued and some settled including Henry vs Glass and others. Extortion charges loom as Squire M B Kline to hear next Tuesday against Wallace and Calvert after Cicero accuses trespass fines and company fencing.
Tonors for Lesh Two. Former Indiana resident and Conemaugh Mine Commissioner Charlies H. Kline, once of town, is elected to the State Senate from a district in Allegheny county. He served in the House last term and is related to Mrs J B Clark of North Ninth street. L Lou McPhilimy, Cone maugh township native, elected Commissioner of Otero County Colorado. A Republican veteran, he enlisted at 16 in 1862 and has lived in Colorado 30 years, the last 16 in the county he now serves.
Reported incidents detail William Sawyer aged about 19 injured while rabbit hunting in Washington township with companions Livingston and Weston. Sawyer suffered shots to face neck and body and was treated by Dr Mikin at Vive Points. Separate notes describe accidental gun discharge injuring Don Wood near Marion Center, and Javan Jones arrested for possessing an unshot rabbit. Jones posted bond for costs. Also mentions a mule-for-pigs barter on Canoe Ridge and October counts of births and deaths in Ladiana borough.

J D Spieher of Willsdale endures a double bereavement as his wife Mrs Mary I Spicher dies at 12:00 PM from typhoid pneumonia aged 18 years and 4 days, leaving four children. Later the same day Barbara Spicher aged 70 dies at her son LT Spicher’s home near Villadale after a long Baptist church role. Both interred at East Mahoning cemetery after funeral services conducted by Carl of Glen Campbell.
Oscar Calhoun of California visiting his brother Deputy Sheriff W. K. Calhoun narrowly escaped a hold up aboard the Golden Gate Limited near Blairsville. A banked conductor locked the coach door, saving him from robbery as the western ranch life calls him back after two years away. Other items note Windling tournament results, local school news, a surprise wedding gift, staff moves, and a new pastor for the Christian church.
