Five Classes of People and the Path to Heaven
A preacher outlines five groups among mankind based on work ethic and sincerity, contrasting workers who pursue honest effort with those relying on inherited faith or mere charity. He cites Calhoun and Samuel Johnson as examples of preparation through labor, then warns against spiritual mendicants who rely on others’ consecration or on good deeds without true heart devotion. The sermon urges personal repentance, readiness, and consecration, warning that the Bridegroom comes suddenly and only prepared lamps will enter the feast.
