A small countywide vote was polled with returns from a few districts by midnight indicating Republicans hold a clear lead of about 2,000 votes. State and local races show Republicans leading in most county tickets, while some state-ticket contests appear scratched. Detailed results from four Indiana wards await official county tallies next week.
A ple social at No gehoolhonss Center township Friday evening November 10 will feature an oyster supper at Ebenezer church next Wednesday. Mr Mia J M Guthrie and daughter host a dinner Friday evening for friends. Mrs Joseph Clements hosts a twelve guest dinner tomorrow for Miss Charlotte Clark. An Ahakah Lodge phantom party Friday November 10 in the 1 0 0 B hall with Palladium Lodge invited. Rebekah members may invite one guest. refreshments after the grand watch and dancing with a small admission. Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway announces new baggage checks from here to hotels or residences in any connected city. Farm Soa. Pittsburgh’s contest appears close with late returns favoring Republicans. New York City uncertain though Tammany claims victory over Jerome. Ohio appears to have gone Democratic by about 100,000. In local church news Rev. Crawford began a sixth year at the Presbyterian church delivering a anniversary sermon. over five years he led 520 sermons and 260 addresses, with 1,760 pastoral visits and 400 new members, while the church raised 17,600 for expenses and 18,700 for benevolence. Also noted are Rev. Craighead resigning to join a Baltimore mission church, Dr. King preaching at the Baptist church, and upcoming communion and services at the First United Presbyterian.
Promoters of the Bennington typewriter seek a local plant site and the patentee plans Indiana talks with the Board of Trade on Monday and Tuesday. The machine will be shown in the Arbitration room of the Court House inviting public inspection. A stock company may be formed to back an $85,000 plant capacity 25 to 35 machines daily, employing about 250 within two years.

Joseph Mears of Rayne township suffered a $2,000 loss when a barn and its contents including crops farming implements and a horse burned in a Thursday evening fire believed incendiary in origin. The Patrons Mutual insured the barn for $500.
Charles Henry, a 20 year old brake man for the Pennsylvania Railroad and son of the late John Henry, was crushed between moving train cars while making up a train at Ross station. He died the same evening at West Penn hospital, Pittsburgh, and was buried in Harmony cemetery near Penn Run. He leaves several siblings in the eastern county.
Deaths from the Dixonville area include Mrs. Brittain McLeister wife of James McLeister of Maylorsville who died Saturday at 8 45 am after four months of rheumatic heart disease. Survived by husband and many children, with funeral at Dixonville Wesleyan Methodist church conducted by Rev I D Rockwell. Interment at Wesleyan Methodist burying ground.
At Edward Rows new house on North Sixth Street, carpenter Robert Jong suffered four serious wounds to his left wrist when struck by a sharp chisel. A small artery was severed and bleeding persisted until a physician arrived. Also noted: Janos B. Green, from Plumville, recently passed a nurses board exam. Indiana merchants pay 25 cents for eggs and 22 cents for butter. Charles Keefer of town spends this week in Philadelphia.
A traveler recounts a Aix la Chapelle to Cologne trip, admiring Cologne Cathedral begun in the eighth century and finished in 1801.
