Indiana to Hold National Guard Camp Near Town
The Beyond Brigade of the National Guard of Pennsylvania will encamp near Indiana from July 22 to 29. About 3,500 to 4,000 men and 400 horses will use 4000 acres south of town along the Indiana branches of the Pennsylvania and Buffalo Rochester Pitts railways. Maj. Wm. H. Corrine, brigade quartermaster, leads ground preparation including grading streets and water lines, creating work and local contracts. Camp pay totals about 50,000 dollars. provisions and officers’ food add significantly. Big Sunday and Governor’s review day draw 25,000 to 30,000 visitors. Roosevelt has accepted a camp invitation among 2,000 offered.

The Yellow Creek Coal Company won title to land in Pine and Buffington townships from Thomas Hogan in a long Fayette County case. Judge Van Swearing ruled Hogan could use only one defense, chose purchase, and the court found insufficient testimony to submit to a jury. The decision may be appealed.
