Battle With Snakes Strikes Elderton Man
An elderly Elderton resident, Daniel Fraily, fought off a nest of large blacksnakes after killing one near the old Dixon hotel. Four others attacked, one coiling around his leg before he trampled it, leaving Fraily exhausted and soaked in sweat. Two dead serpents, five and five feet ten inches long, were found at the scene while three others fled to nearby rocks.

A Pittsburg & Eastern dispatch states that the contract for the line from Mahaffey to Saltsburg will be let within days. The road is 50 miles from Saltsburg, work halted last fall, but will be pressed to completion.
