Attorney Langham of town is reappointed as Deputy State Superintendent of Public Instruction to succeed Henry Quok. Brookville's Mr. Elktrick, a well known figure, is named Deputy State Superintendent of Public Instruction to join the Internal Affairs office. Elktrick will receive a salary of $3,000 yearly.

Enock Mentue, a faraigner employed, was perhaps fatally injured in a Barnaken fight when hit on the head with a bat and a revolver. He was rushed to Memorial Hospital Johnstonown in an unconscious condition where pieces of bone pressing the brain were removed and his skull was fractured. Prominent county figure Squire David Gorman died at his Banks township home on Sunday April 21. Born April 2, 1823, he married Christina Rry on October 14, 1845. He served as Justice of the Peace for 25 years and was active in Masonry. Civil War veteran of the 200th Pennsylvania Volunteers, he guided many local cases before justices. Surviving children include Dr. David A. Gorman and several others in Nebraska, West Virginia, Colorado, and nearby towns. Funeral services were led by Rev. M. R. Hackman and burial took place in the Fry Cemetery on his farm.
Mrs Mary M Binich widow of the late J T Smith died at her home on Church street Friday around 11 o clock aged 76 years 11 months. She had Brights disease and was found unconscious by her son Robert M Smith Wednesday morning. Born and raised near West Lebanon she married J B Smith who died years ago. The family once lived on a Parkwood farm where diphtheria claimed three children. Survived by one sister Mrs Kate fulnger of Harrisville W Way met her sister for the first time in forty years in 1900. A life long member of First United Presbyterian Church services were held at her late home Monday afternoon by Rev Dr J Day Brownlee and interment in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs Mable M Stephens wife of Ben L Stephens of near Penn Kuh died Monday after a complication of dlavage aged 6? years 2 months and 10 days She is survived by her husband two children and brothers Arthur of Peon Run Weasley of Charryhill township Frank of Mar lon Center Nora at home and a daughter of J and Ackerson of Cherryhill township She was a former county teacher Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon by Rev William Boreall with interment in the litch Hill grave yard.
Jay Ferguson son of Mr and Mrs David Berguson of Youngsirable died Sunday from consumption at age 18. Funeral services were conducted yesterday by Rev J M Piniay. Interment followed at Fairview cemetery Jacksonville.

Mrs Geog Petteraoim, maiden Orlesman, lifelong North Mahoning resident, died Friday evening at 60 after a lingering illness. Survived by husband, two sons and three daughters, including Mottoe, Wilson, Joseph, Daniel, Clarence and daughters Mrs Link Grossman, Mrs Minnis Beck, Mrs Grant Piarce. Funeral held Sunday 10 am at Lutheran church Trade City. interment Round Top cemetery.
Mrs John Wine died at Rev. McCullough's Homer City home on Thursday at age 47. Her husband died years earlier, and a sister Aydin Garman, who lived with the deceased, survives. Funeral services were held Saturday at her home by Rev. J W Shaffar, with interment in Oakland Cemetery.
Thomas Daity was moved to Memorial hospital in Jonatown on Thursday by G Walbyck of Brushvalley township. Daity, formerly a coal miner at Hoshdon, was stricken about eight weeks earlier and became a townslip ward.
