Grave Crime Lodged Against Two Youths

Norman Holland aged 19 and William McAdoo aged 17, Deckers Point youths, are jailed on a charge of statutory rape involving 14 year old Molan Purdy. They fled after the assault on March 13, were captured at Locust while attempting to board a northbound freight. They also face larceny of a horse and buggy.

Coal to be mined on royalty near Cherry Tree

The Hastings Coal and Coke Company has leased 350 acres from John D. and Sidney Garman on royalty in Cherry Tree vicinity. Garmans will receive eight cents per ton, with minimum production of 16 000 tons this year, 25 000 next year and 30 000 annually thereafter. John D. Garman, of Washington DC, finalized terms last week. He also owns another royalty coal tract in the same field, yielding about 6 900 dollars yearly.

Guilty of second degree murder in foreigner case

Vasil Schrensky was sentenced by Judge S J Telford to not less than twelve nor more than twenty years in the Western Penitentiary after a jury found him guilty of second degree murder for striking Fania Wykosky with a stone. The killing occurred during a Greek Christmas spree on January 7, with the injured man dying at hospital.

Divorce suit filed by Jean Johnson’s husband Morgan

Denver law student John Thomas Morgan eloped with Jean Johnston last June. He says he won’t contest the divorce and has arranged alimony outside court. Jean Johnson, once of Blairsville, left Indiana to visit her father in Denver. she disappeared after filing for extreme cruelty. The couple married June 20 1914 and lived together briefly before allegations arose.

Parkwood Woman Injured When Buggy Overturned Sunday

Parkwood resident Miss Mary Anderson was thrown from a buggy en route to West Union United Presbyterian Church on Sunday. She was briefly unconscious but recovered. Her brother Thomas and sister Elizabeth were unhurt as their frightened horse jolted them from the vehicle.
