Floods Cause Widespread Damage Across County Creeks
Flooding from heavy rains and melting snow caused extensive damage in the county. Bridges on Blacklick Creek near Hel l and at Campbell’s Mills were swept away or damaged, many township bridges were ruined, trains delayed, and roads blocked. A fatal accident occurred when dynamite exploded injuring a child and possibly mortally wounding a mother amid a West Lebanon boarding house incident.

The second week of criminal court opened on Monday with Steve Zaraskie charged with illegal liquor sale found guilty. Jos Ravish convicted on related charges. Frank Villela tried Tuesday with verdict pending at press time. Bonnie Stiles convicted of wool theft. Constable Reed acquitted for refusing to serve process. John Meyer acquitted of aggravated assault and battery with costs split. William Boic and Frank Mentnh found guilty of aggravated assaults. Robert Rudgan pled guilty to larceny with pending related charge. Game Warden Holmes extortion suit withdrawn.

The Century Club held a well attended meeting Monday with members reciting Pope quotations. Mrs Moorhead read the three papers on The Chief Characteristics of the Age of Queen Anne, Merits and Defects of Pope’s Poetry, and Lady of the Lake. A social half hour followed with a coin puzzle led by Mrs Simpson.

Blairsville Improvements Boost West Penn Freight Capacity
Blairsville gains major upgrades by the West Penn Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. New transfer platforms, 22 000 square feet of handling space, brick warehouses, a two story brick office, and sidings double freight capacity from 48 to 72 cars. Four tracks with 18 cars each, diagonal transfer sheds, and enhanced drainage improve efficiency and reduce congestion. Additional work extends between Towne lton and Bolivar with double tracks and line straightening.

Prominent Woman Mrs Nixon Dies After Illness
Mrs Pheody Durg Nixon an aged resident of the plaza died at her North Sixth street home after a two week illness. She was over 80 and spent most of life in Indiana county. Survived by daughters Fannie, Ava Children, and two sons, funeral at 8:00 pm with Rev Dr John Vaughn Lewis and private interment at Oakland cemetery tomorrow.
