Grand jury returned true bills charging thieves and liquor offenses. several cases continued for trial due to attorney preparation. A panic-like gas supply issue disrupted Thursday and Friday, delaying court sessions and forcing cold breakfasts for patrons.
Se w Recovertugy nies T. Henry of Blairsville has been seriously ill the past week from pneumonia but shows improvement after medical care and rest.
At a Monday meeting in the Fourth Ward Fire Company's rooms public spirited men and women backed the project to establish a public hospital at the county seat. They will seek business signatures for the charter to be filed with the court and elect a board of managers at next Wednesday's Cunningham Hall session. The New Century Club and supporters spearhead the effort to promote the town's welfare.
Former resident Mrs. G M Edwards of Portland was not killed. A March 1 accidental gun discharge by J A Edwards wounded his wife in the right wrist and side, infection setting in and she died the next day after medical officers believed the wound nonfatal. Survived by husband eight children mother three brothers and three sisters. George S Potts of Kellysburg is a brother of the deceased.
A brooding house on Lewis A. Wheeler’s farm south of town burned early Saturday, killing many valuable fowls. Oil lamp heat likely sparked the blaze, with 40 young chickens and about 100 young ducks inside. A pen of white Wyandottes near the brooder also burned, and Wheeler estimates losses around 100 dollars.

The Indiana Hardware Company unites Indians Hardware Co and A T Taylor & Son Mevee Interests to operate from the old Wilson storeroom, with Taylor & Son handling timing plumbing and repair, Sutter overseeing store and hardware sectors. The new firm starts April 1 and increases capital to 25000.

Indiana investors plan to launch the Yellow Front Variety Store in the A UW Steving building on North Sixth this month. The second floor will feature carpets, rugs, lace curtains and window shades with upper floors used for warehousing.

Mary Barclay and Agnes Muman receive the organ. Calvin Braugher gains 200 dollars and 200 to Mary Barclay. Calvin Leasure gets 100. Remaining funds go to Mary Barclay and William Morisonia. Executor named. Will dated October 28, 1900. Also filed is the will of W K Dickie of West Wheathfield, deceased, bequeathing entire estate to sister Livza S Dickie, executor appointed. Will dated February 5, 1900.
Twenty five neighbors surprised Mrs. Sophia Lowry on Oakland Avenue with a birthday gathering. They presented a purse and money token, refreshments were served, and the party planning notes mention invitations from multiple hosts for a forthcoming Library Hall party with Opera House Orchestra music. Other hosts, dinners, and gatherings are listed for the week including Mrs. James W. Mack hosting four dozen friends and Miss Nellie Guthrie entertaining friends at dinner.
A benefit event will be held next Friday at the Polaog Skating Rink to raise funds for the Industrial School for Girls. All receipts from afternoon and evening skating will go to the worthy cause, aiding needed repairs and supporting homes in need.
At the Young Peoples Christian Union business meeting the Wigan United Presbyterian Church chose officers. Francis Smith was elected president, Mary McCraight as vice president, Bead Kell as secretary, and Martha siuchelly as treasurer.
