Penny in the Deal Fuels Big Coal Boom in Green Townships
A vast coal sale totaling about 19000 acres in Green and Cherryhill townships draws eastern investors linked to the Pennsylvania Railroad. Purchasers pay $25 per acre with three equal installments, while engineers survey titles and sites for future rail extensions from CherryTree to Flemings Summit and beyond. The sale, tied to Green Township lands and projects from Cush Cushion Creek to Moss Creek, signals a regional boom with multiple fields opened and railroad lines planned to accelerate development.
