Indiana State Normal school will spend over 25000 on summer additions to its west wing to serve 64 more girl students. Recreation Hall will be expanded to seat the entire student body, with an ambulatory built around three sides and archway entrances.
State board week at Indiana Normal school brings annual exams for students. Plans for commencement have been completed with reunions for five and ten year graduates. The week features a baccalaureate sermon at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. W. E. B. McCulloch, a belated concert, alumni meetings, class day, and an alumni banquet and dance, concluding with Wednesday morning chapel exercises.

Local social notes list visitors and travelers including Hiram Smith of Saltsburg, A W Standish and family from Portland visiting Rev Emilio Ferri in Ernest, plans to sail to Italy for summer, Willis Houk and Janet Clark guests at the Houk home in Love Joy, Ferguson family from Jacksonville en route home from Warren, Langham and McHenry parties motoring to Washington and Harrisburg, Western University commencement attendees in Pittsburgh, and related family graduations in pharmacy and medicine.
Blairsville district Epworth League convened in Apollo Pennsylvania from Wednesday to Friday with 3600 members from 67 chapters. Highlights included sermons by Pittsburgh and Johnstown pastors, Apollo Junior League’s musical display, and Tuskegee Quartet performances. convention records show increased participation and funds exceeding 3650.00 toward Java missionary work, with officers elected and next meeting set for June in Indiana.

Three former county residents, previously held at Western Penitentiary, were recommended for parole by the State Pardon Board at a meeting last week. Named are Charles Abrams of Indiana and Dixonville, serving for arson in Summerville, Jefferson County. Peter Balolis for malicious railroad injury. and Jim Rosa for robbery. The Ruffner and Bitterbaugh reunion will be held at Ed. Widdows on Grove near Clymer, July 4. Frank E. Winsheimer of Homestead City visits his Philadelphia-born father J. M. Wingsheimer. Mrs. A. T. Moorehead of North Seventeenth Street, with her son Frank, visited Dr. and Mrs. John Brallier of Latrobe, over Sunday. Mrs. Edward Rowland of town visiting Mt. Clemens, Mich., with friends. Mr. and Mrs. P. Churchill of Hillsdale are parents.
The Cramer Coal Coke and Stone company in Cramer seven miles west of Johnstown awarded Orville Keough a contract to build 20 five room residences for workers. The project may grow to 40 houses by year end, with Keough moving to Seward and teaming with Johnstown Millwork and Lumber for finished lumber as work begins.
The Rev Dr F S Crawford's resignation as pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Indiana was accepted at a Monday Congregational meeting. A July 7 presbytery session will dissolve the pastor relationship, with a special committee to invite ministers to occupy the pulpit until a call is issued. The First United Presbyterian church set the pastor’s salary at 2400 dollars per year and notified Rev McGeorge of Carapolis about his planned pastorate and possible acceptance within the week.
Washington Party adherents met in Cherrytree Pa forming the Progressive Club with upwards of 50 members. Notable figures present included D E Notley R D Tonkin William Mahaffey L B Pittman and several others. Speakers included Charles Wolfe Apollo Washington Party candidate for Congress J Day Brownlee Blairsville George Wilkinson Blairsville State committeeman. A large rally is planned soon.
Harry B. Marshall son of Godfrey Marshall and Miss Al tha Matheson of New York city were married in New York early last week. Marshall is a noted musician and author and composer of several musical comedies. Bride spent part of last summer in Indiana and has local acquaintances. They will reside in Indiana after a two week stay in the Past. King and Henry wed in Lucerne Mines Pa with William C. King and Miss Cora E. Henry married by Squire James A. Crossman in Court Place.
Bert W. Schade and Miss Lefa M. Green, both popular Homer City youths, were married on Thursday June 18 by Rev. R. B. Dun mire at the clergyman's Blairsville residence.
The A M E Zion church of Indiana will be re established for both morning and evening services as soon as street can be remodelled. Rev. P H Williams of Pittsburgh is conducting services for the colored congregation in the chapel of the Episcopal church.

West Lebanon will celebrate the lion’s birthday with a reunion of teachers and pupils at the Presbyterian church. July 3 features devotion, welcome by Rev Work, addresses by A Morrow and H J Telford, music, school histories, and five minute talks. July 4 events are run by the entertainment and amusement committee with a noon group dinner and evening festival.
The Buchheit family celebrated Harry Buchheit on his birthday with a wife planned party. Friends gathered at the home while he attended a church meeting, and he returned to a merry surprise around 8:30. Guests played games, and a late lunch was served at 11.
Dr. R. F. McHenry of Hellwood will attend the Clinical Congress of Surgeons of North America in London from July 27 to August 3 where the North American and London associations meet. He will tour Treleans Scotland England Holland Belgium and France with a week in Paris, sailing from New York on the Galiteul. The tour is designed for association members with a home voyage around August 18.
Mrs Robert La Follette wife of United States Senator La Follette Wisconsin will present on the slogan No Taxation without Representation as it applies to women Saturday Opposing her will be Miss Price A delegation of Indiana women will attend the meeting.
Mr. 4 A Buchanan of Brushvalley traveled with his family along with James Moose of Wheatfield and J A Hockenberg of Graceton to Livermore where they were guests of the family of G W Stokes.
A pretty wedding occurred at Mrs. Margaret A. Gilchrist home on Water Street as Miss Jame Lena Gilchrist wed Robert Joseph Snedden of Heilwood, Pa, in a four o'clock ceremony led by Rev. Mantel Shehbs. The bride, a graduate of Indiana Normal and local schools, plans teaching. Also, Walter Clyde Duff and Gertrude Ethel Evans married at the bride’s home, with Miss Coltie Dobson playing the wedding march and Ruth Kelly as flower girl. The couple will reside in Warner City after a Niagara Falls trip.
Nanni and Moraca unite in marriage at Ernest Roman Catholic church with flower girls Elisa Zamboni and Giulia Tocci. Guests dine at Creekside hall with Fera's Family Orchestra. Indiana area recalls Hastings Carson wedding and other June unions including Stewart Reynolds and Good Work in Ohio and Pennsylvania counties.
Giaod-Work Lester N Good of Marion Center and Miss Ethel G Work of Rochester Mills wed at the bride’s parents home. Rev W E M Copeland officiated with the groom’s brother as best man and Miss Lueile Oss as bridesmaid. After a trip to Niagara Falls they will live in Marion Center.
Elders Ridge prepares for commencement at the historic institution featuring a seventy fifth anniversary celebration. The Sunday baccalaureate sermon was delivered by Rev Work, with class day exercises led by Rev McDonaldson of Denver. Alumni reunion, dinner at noon, and afternoon activities follow, under a committee including Walker Shuth Alderaridge Mondrothburg and others.
W Beck of Covede was arrested in Pinxsetawney on a Saturday charged with stealing diamonds valued at 1200 from Thomas G Allebran a diamond drill contractor. He was held for court trial with bail set at 900.
Neighbors and friends gathered near Rossiter to honor Mr and Mrs H Bertini Bee with an unannounced visit on Thursday. They brought baskets of food and shared an elaborate noon dinner. Afternoon amusements followed and a group photo was taken. Guests left gifts recalling the occasion.
Mrs Henry Ross of Cokeville, 34, hanged herself Tuesday afternoon in a bedroom of her home, after sending her five children out to avoid disturbance. She recently returned from Philadelphia where she received hospital treatment. Survivors include her husband and five children.
A Fourth of July picnic at Widdowson’s Grove one and a half miles north of Clymer features Rev. Wm McChire and K. Davis of Blairsville speaking. The event includes a parade, tug of war, games, and a massed band program by Dixonville.
Clenny Miller, about 20, was badly injured Friday evening when he fell backward from a porch in Dayton. He fractured his spine near the neck while standing on a rear porch and fell backwards.
