Robbers Bind, Burn Victims in Near Rochester Mills Farm
Five attackers beat down the door of David C. Leasure’s farmhouse near Rochester Mills on a Monday night. They bound the family and a hired girl in separate rooms, tortured Leasure with burning paper to extract wealth, finding only $10 and a gold watch. They fled as police have no clue, leaving victims tied until the hired girl freed them at around 4 AM.

Girl Leaps to Death at Dixmont Insane Asylum
Martha Penrose 20, daughter of Mr and Mrs Isaac Penrose of West Wheatfield township, died after leaping from a fire escape at Dixmont Insane Asylum following a pursuit of a perceived pet canary. She had been brought to the institution last March and was granted privileges. the death occurred Tuesday of last week. Remains sent to home for burial at Bethel church cemetery. Also notes sale of Champbersville House in Chambersville for 8200 by H W Beckwith after four years ownership from J Z Hilberry, with liquor license.

Senator M S Quay Dead In Indiana Memory Hail
Matthew Stanley Quay senior United States senator from Pennsylvania died at his Beaver home after a yearlong illness. Born 1833 in Dillsburg he rose from Beaver County law to lead politics, guiding campaigns including Harrison 1888. Survived by wife Agnes Barklay and five children, funeral at Beaver Presbyterian Church.

Mrs ID Hart of near West Lebanon was seriously hurt when she fell through a barn floor while loft hunting for eyes on the Tart farm. She received help around 4 PM after the accident shortly after noon. Dr D T Casa of West Lebanon attended and reduced fees. A physician in trouble Miller of Jeannette was arrested for malpractice linked to Miss Dolly Tyrer’s death. Bail set at 2000.

Brewery Contract Awarded for Four Brick Buildings
Bollinger Bros of Pittsburg secured the contract to erect four large brick buildings for the Shyrock Hill Brewing Company on the old water works site west of town. The project, costing between 50000 and 80000, will start once materials arrive, with the largest building measuring about 105 by 187 feet. The plant will use water from nearby wells for production and will be near the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburg rail line for market access.
