Teachers Chosen in Many Districts Across County

The county reports most schools have secured teachers after crowded meetings last week. A long list names instructors for multiple districts including Banks Pleasant Dale Helens Lamigan McKee Edna Bowers Sidney Lewis Shields and many more with only a few districts yet to elect for Fetterman Dixon and Upper Homer schools.

Blood Poison From Peculiar Injury At Rifle Shoot

Dale Marlin of Company FP Tenth Regiment North Guard is critically ill in an Indiana hospital after a regimental rifle shoot in Greensburg. He sustained a scrape on his elbow when the gun kick scraped away skin while using the elbow for support. Blood poisoning followed the abrasion, and his condition remained critical. He is the youngest son of Robert T. Marlin of Eleventh street and a popular local guard member.

Gypsies Arrested At Homer City For Roaming Fortunes

Members of a gypsy band visiting Indiana were arrested in Homer City for roaming and fortune telling in violation of state law. At Justice Archie Weir's hearing they were fined. some were sent to county jail but paid the total 78 dollars in claims with legal advice. The band was ordered to leave the county by week’s end.

Weddings Tie 5 Couples in Pittsburg and Nearby

The week’s weddings include Paul London and Martha Ruth Black in Pittsburg with plans to live in Indiana where London works as a carpenter. Also married were Russell Stuchal and Le Vall Tortney in Canton, Ohio, now moving there for work at Canton Malleable Iron Company. Hamilton N. Caldwell and Frances Caldwell wed in Oakland Avenue home ceremony, and Thomas Sensabaugh and Lizzie Learn joined near Lovejoy. Jacob V. Mogle and Thelma Jewart wed at the Mahoning Baptist church parsonage near Plumville. attendants were John Elkin and LaRue Good.

Indiana County Medical Society held a July session electing three delegates for the Pennsylvania State Medical Society convention in Pittsburg this September. The delegation includes Doctors A. T. Clymer Man Killed Instantly In Auto Accident

William Methven aged 21 an electrician in the coal mines at Clymer was instantly killed in an auto accident near Blossburg on Tuesday. The car owned by Superintendent William Dunsmore of the Russell Coal Company carried Methven and family members including the Dunsmore party. James Cooney and his son were killed and James Mekedlinia and another were injured when the car toppled after losing control on a hill and bursting a front gear, throwing occupants and the vehicle down an embankment.

Drowning at Plum Creek Ends Local Boy's Life

Clark McCoy 12 died after entering Plum Creek alone near Atwood in Wednesday evening’s swims. His sister Mrs. Joseph Wood found his clothes, a search later located the body 1000 feet downstream. Authorities suspect cramps caused the drowning. He is survived by his parents and siblings.

News of County Towns N G P encampment opens on Saturday

The Second Brigade N G P encampment is set to open Saturday near Indiana with over 2000 soldiers expected. Visitors will travel by extensive Pennsylvania Railroad specials from Allegheny Altoona Monongahela City Uniontown and Vandergrift while Camp facilities include electric light water bath houses and natural drainage. Company F Tenth regiment will be on provost duty during the first three days.

Deaths in Walier and nearby towns noted in obituary list

George Means of Walier died at 70 a Civil War veteran with relatives in the northern county. Surviving children include HT. Mouns of town. Rachel Cook of Cookport died aged 77 after a paralytic stroke, leaving husband David Cook and children Alexander Zena Jos Mary Idle. Harriet Qichey of Saltsburg died at 79, sister of Alte Mary Hay of Water Street. Typhoid cases reported with no deaths. milk from a local dairy is suspected as a transmission factor. one town resident is infected.

Aged Wout Injured in Street Incident Report

An elderly woman, Mrs Miury Shaffer, on Water Street was struck Monday by a taxi driver named Rinyan. She suffered internal injuries feared, with head and body trauma noted as she was taken for medical care.

Automobile Fire Damages Car in Creekside

An automobile owned by H. Klelna tub of Creekside was damaged by fire to the extent of 500 dollars on Monday due to short circuits in the electrical apparatus. Festival at Taylorsville will feature an ice cream festival on the church lawn at Taylore on Saturday evening hosted by The Willing Workers Bible Class of the 1st Union Presbyterian Church.
