Waterspout strikes Allegheny passenger ship at sea
The HamburgAmerican freighter Allegheny was struck by a waterspout off Cape Hatteras just after daybreak. First Mate Otto Reimerts and Quartermaster Antonio Giovanni were knocked senseless as the ship buckled under the giant, washing over the bridge and nearly turning the vessel.
