Changes in hog processing tax rules effective November 1 1934

Farm Extension News outlines new tax regulations for hog producers and feeders under the 1934 marketing year. Producers may avoid processing tax on dressed hogs sold to resellers or restaurants, but remain liable for tax on carcasses sold directly to consumers, with an exemption on the first 300 pounds if yearly dressed weight does not exceed 1000 pounds. The notice also clarifies feeder definitions and reporting deadlines for November 1934. It emphasizes keeping records and notes seed stock shortages while reporting vegetable variety trials from Pennsylvania State College with several new and established strains recommended for local adaptation.
