Important Dairy Meeting Teld Sue Tuesday
More than 160 dairymen attended the Tuesday meeting at the Court House addressed by P. B. Brenneman, president of the Dairy men’s Co operative Sales Co. Local officials and dairymen from Smicksburg, Marion Center, Horner City and Indiana discussed price differentials between Pittsburgh delivered milk and the Indiana Receiving Station started January 1. Brenneman noted multiple regional receiving stations closing to favor Cleveland demand, and asserted Indiana’s station plan reduces truck congestion while preserving milk quality by delivering to a receiving station and cooling to 35 degrees before Pittsburgh transport. He affirmed prices would be the same via local receiving stations, with incentives for Grade A compliance and bonuses of 40 to 90 cents per hundred, highlighting Jersey herds achieving 6% fat. Dairymen have improved stables and milk houses to meet Grade A standards as Reick MeJuikin Dairy’s Grade A milk shifts from Bedford to Indiana in the near term.

Cramer Pike Not to be Built at Pres Cramer Pike
Counties abandon Cramer Pike project due to excessive cost of construction. Cambria and Indiana counties halt unimproved route 233 segment from East Wheatfield to Cambria line, citing $140000 per mile and favoring sectioned upgrades. Proposals to extend to Johnstown face high totals. Indiana funds $50000 to push toward county line, with state aid contingent on Cambria completing four miles to Johnstown. A suggestion arises to bypass cementing the Pike and pursue a cheaper restoration plan via the state highway department.
