Promised Wave Lantern From Inn to Chicago Boat
Young Sweeney waits at Cumback Inn for the Chicago boat as Laura Wankle floods of emotion and a lantern signal linger on the pier. The blond Evelyn frets while Laura keeps faith, hoping to greet him with a light from the deck, while a porter’s son hides at the edge. The boat finally passes and the hopeful scene ends with Sweeney praising the girls as romantic.
