Free From Debt New Plumville Presbyterian Church Dedicated
The Plumville congregation dedicated a new Presbyterian church on a recent Tuesday, with Rev J M Kelly delivering the dedicatory sermon. The church raised £1020 to clear all indebtedness, and about 150 members, with several neighboring ministers in attendance, celebrated under Pastor Rev Foresman.

Cramer Buys Largest Timber Tract in Brushvalley
Joseph Cramer of Cramer purchases the McCormick timber tract in Brushvalley township. The 1.2 to 1.5 million feet of white oak is the county’s largest timber parcel. He plans to start logging soon with a mill to be established there in the spring.

House Narrowly Escapes Destruction in Cramer
The home of Mr. J. F. Brantlinger in Cramer narrowly escaped major damage after a hanging lamp in the front room exploded one evening last week. Fire spread to furniture and carpet before the family stopped a larger blaze, preventing a serious fire.

A stove in William Risinger’s Third ward home toppled on Wednesday, scattering burning coals over the floor. No one but children was inside. neighbors were summoned, possibly preventing a serious fire. The carpet burned, and the floor was badly damaged.

Long Life Ends for Saltsburg Settler Hugh Kelly at 96
Hugh Kelly of Saltsburg died Friday night at 11:30 at his son Robert L. Kelly's home. He was 96, born January 31, 1800 in Ireland, emigrated in 1834, and helped build the Pennsylvania canal as a lock tender. Survived by nine children and several relatives, he lived near Saltsburg, was a M E church member, and was interred in Saltsburg cemetery after services Monday.

Meat Market Robbed in Fourth Ward Break-In
Thieves entered the W. B. Lowman meat market through a transom window in the rear door Monday night and took about 60 pounds of butter 15 dozen eggs and three hams. The cash drawer was emptied of change not exceeding one dollar. Two muddy tracks were found in the back yard the next morning. Lowman suspects several local residents.

Maria Bracken widow of John Bracken of East Wheatfield township died Tuesday night at age 70 after several paralysis attacks. Survived by four children Watson Alice Emma and Mrs. John Ray of Morrellville. She belonged to Armagh M E church. Funeral held Thursday by Rev. Bergman with interment in Armagh M E church graveyard.

Death of Miss Neva Hershberger at Normal School
Miss Neva Hershberger a student at the Normal school died of pneumonia on Sabbath evening at age 18 after two weeks of classes. Prostrated, she was hospitalized a week before passing. Her parents Mr and Mrs Thomas Hershberger of Pittsburgh were at her bedside. Remains sent to Pittsburg for interment with faculty and senior class members accompanying.

Terrible Boiler Explosion at Holidaysburg Injury Toll Grows
A blast at the Holidaysburg Iron and Nail Company works Thursday morning wrecked a boiler that tore through the roof and fell back into another section. The explosion shook the town and left twenty injured, some fatally, with extensive damage across the plant.

Sheep killed by dogs on Harman farm
Three sheep owned by Judge White were killed by dogs on Saturday at the Harman farm north of town. The dogs chased the animals from the sheds into the field where they were found slaughtered.

Mrs Altimus of Hillside Dies at 33
Mrs Frank B Altimus of Hillside died Tuesday of consumption at age 33. The family moved from Brushvalley township about a year ago to their present home. A husband and seven children survive. The remains were taken to Armagh for interment on Thursday.

Death of Montgomery settler Mr George Uncapher
Mr George Uncapher of Montgomery township died Thursday night at age 76. He was an early settler and a member of the East Mahoning church. Rev Burrows led funeral services, with interment in East Mahoning church graveyard. A daughter of miller J C Stear & Sons near Plumville died of black diphtheria last week, and her father suffered a period of insanity before recovery.

Death Follows Lye Ingestion Of Burkett Child
In Grant township last evening Zola Burkett the six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Samuel Burkett died after drinking lye from a cup last March. She suffered severe burns in the mouth throat and stomach and lingered in pain despite care in Pittsburg. The child wasted away to a skeleton and died Tuesday. Burial is planned for Thursday at East Mahoning church graveyard.
