A team of ponies drawing a wagon ran off near Pine Flats in the forenoon, seriously injuring two men and wrecking the buggy. Driver Bart0 Gartian sustained a fracture while a Mr. Markle suffered a severe head injury. both were taken to Hellad hospital. Gartian is in critical condition. One horse was badly hurt.

John McCombs Makes His Will After Murder Charge
Olin McCombs, jailed on a murder charge in the West area home killing of his wife Monday night, January 23, prepared a will last Saturday and expressed a wish to die. Sheriff Wallace Thomas asked commissioners to place a guard for several days after the crime. McCombs exhibits remorse and realizes the enormity of his act, saying he is ready to die.

Rabies Causes Death of Four Head Cattle Near Hillsdale
Four cattle on Dean S. Rankin's farm near Hillsdale died from rabies this week, with the rest of the stock quarantined by Dr. 8. C. Weamer of the State Sanitary and Livestock Board. A strange dog, seen weeks earlier, is believed to be the source, and the outbreak follows other rabies incidents in the county including cattle, horses, hogs, and a sheep flock under quarantine in Loyalhanna Township.

Destructive fire tears through Josephine supply shop
A second major blaze in two weeks struck Josephine at dawn Monday burning the supply house and the adjacent James carpenter shop. Loss nears 20000 dollars with insurance, origin of the fire remains unknown.
