Ellen Bhe of Rochester Mills widow of Daniel Bhe died December 14 after paralysis at 77 years 3 months 22 days. Her sister Sarah J Bates died December 18 four days later at the home of nephew F M Jeffries aged 75 years months 28 days. They left a brother William Jeffries and sister Rachel McMahan, all Rochester Mills residents. Lifelong United Brethren church members at Richmond services were held and Pine Grove cemetery at Rochester Mills was the resting place.
Pearl Allison a 16 year old girl was arrested in Johnstown on a street walking charge and claimed Homer City Indiana county as her home. Authorities questioned her and she said Johnstown is her residence. She was released to Cambria county authorities who deemed she was not a ward there. She also said stepfather James Smith resides at Little Washington near Homer City Indiana county. Engagement announced between Miss Jane W Brown and Stephen Kiss of the town. Saltaburg home robbed of furniture valued at 1200 during three weeks absence of L H Shaner. An orchard demonstration will be held at Fran H Daly’s orchard this afternoon at 1:00.

Nathan Spielberg the legal husband of Mather Lipscher, Arcadia girl, faces serious charges after allegedly robbing his wife of a $600 diamond ring and diamonds earrings then leaving her. Lipscher seeks extradition from Detroit to Somerset to press desertion non-support and larceny charges amid a tense family dispute and Detroit police involvement.
Motion of Morrison and Mountain to secure a new trial on the charge of burning the dwelling of Ralph C Morrison at Smicksburg was filed by Morrison and Sidney Mountain through J L Fisher of Punxsutawney and will be argued before Judge Telford next Monday afternoon The court refused to replace Mrs Morrison as security and the trial date is set for January 1 An examination for a postmaster in Mitchells Mills will be held January 20 2012
George Wodson of Tarentum visits his parents near three mile corner. Merte Black’s daughter Mirgae recovers from pneumonia. Typhoid fever cases ease as Jack Wagner’s son recovers. Christmas programs at Lutheran church draw large crowds with local families traveling to Punxsutawney and nearby towns.
Purported plans to move gas engine production to Cherry Tree Iron Works in Indiana County. Partners including I De Tonkin and John Coskove organize to carry on the motor industry, with many Thermal Company staff relocating. A brick facility will be built to house the new industry as machinery is installed. Thermial gas fans show strong efficiency, suggesting future growth and day and night shifts to stay busy for months.
John Rommel a Kenwood blacksmith entered a gaseous well to retrieve two men, John Reed and Daniel Stevens, who died after inhaling fumes. Rommel's actions followed by Dr. Holt McHenry and others prompted a Carnegie Hero Fund Commission inquiry, with a representative visiting Indiana to gather details.

Dr W F Weltzel and Mrs Weltzel suffer injuries after a Ford driven by Dr Weltzel is struck by a street car at Wayne Avenue foot. Also in the car were Dr and Mrs Fairbank of Pittsburg. Palrbunk escaped injury. Other occupants were thrown from the car.
A teenage highwayman known as Wolf, of Cramer Pike, attempted to rob Louis Stutzman and Lawrence Butts from a two horse buggy near Cambria Steel. A single revolver shot grazed his hip, and he fled to an outhouse before being captured. He confessed the hold ups and is likely to be sent to Morgantown for lenient handling.
Congregations at Plum Villa and Nebo Presbyterian churches honored their ministers on Christmas day. Rev J L Shindledecker received a well filled purse as his birth anniversary was celebrated, with a church dinner following. Nebo Presbyterian presented Rev James Walte a gold watch and chain from R W Wehrle Co, engraved with the pastor’s name and date of presentation.
