Liquor license bids flood county clerks office

Thirty eight applications for liquor licenses have been filed in the prothonotary’s office. Creekaide leads with four retail requests while Glen Campbell and Arcadia each list three. Rosaiter Dixonville Richmond seek two licenses. Other towns include Andorra Lovejoy Heilwood Wilgus Gipay Iselin Mahon Kellysburg Chambersville Rayne Wehtum Buffington Plumville Cherrytree. Hearing set for January 15 at 2 00 with a January 12 deadline for petitions.

Holiday Homecomings Fill Indiana County Listings

A long list of Christmas and holiday visits fills Indiana County towns as locals and out-of-town relatives convene. Professors, merchants, and students return home for Christmastide while numerous callers from Blairsville Blairsville, Vandergrift, Donors, Latrobe, and Pittsburgh join family gatherings and social visits across town.

Fire damages Smicksburg stores and post office

A large blaze in Smicksburg destroyed the storeroom of I. D. Wood, the harness shop of Henry H. Drohn, and wiped out the village post office with fixtures and mail matter. Losses include about 1200 dollars for Drohn, 600 for Good who carried no insurance, and disruption to Cunningham Company during a busy Christmas period. The fire caused substantial excitement at Library Hall as an Institute gathering adjourned, with no serious injuries, and residents aided by bucket brigades. Additional notes cover teachers institute attendance, directors association resolutions, and local accident reports.

Indiana County Street Railway Formed to Tie Towns

A merger of trolley interests creates the Indiana County Street Railway Company covering routes from Indiana to Blairsville Intersection and beyond. Justice John P. Elkin promotes eastern capital participation as a public meeting set for Friday at 8:20 p.m. in the Elkin building to explain plans and invite support for a countywide trolley system linking Indiana with nearby towns.

Weddings Of A Week In Indiana Society Notice

William L Strong Dies at 61 in Strongstown

William L Strong aged over 61 died at his home in Strongstown on December 18 from paralysis. Born February 24, 1864, he lived there all his life and was a 20 year member of the M E church. Survived by wife, mother, one son Alton, and sister Mrs Nancy Carney of Stringstown. Funeral by Rev Miller, interment at Belayno on Wednesday.

Death of John Exeman Mohn Taleman at West Church Street

John Exeman Mohn Taleman of West Church Street died Tuesday afternoon of paralysis at age 63. He leaves a wife, two sons Harry and Will, both in town, and three daughters Mrs Milli gan Hil of town, Pearl and Ethel at home.

Tillie Parsons Dies in East Mahoning Typhoid Pneumonia

Miss Tillie Parsons daughter of the late John Parsons died at John Work's home in East Mahoning township Tuesday night from typhoid pneumonia. She was about 15 years old.

Zeddie McMillen and Mise Sadie B Rickard were married at the home of the bride’s relatives in Windber Pa on Friday evening. The groom is a son of John McMillen and the bride the daughter of Andrew Rickard of Hillsdale. They plan to reside in Altoona after Mrs McMillen stays with her parents for a few days. Mr McMillen works as a fireman on the Pennsylvania Railroad.
