Baird read the day’s paper on The Heavenly City, and several members offered remarks. Reports on interviewing Judge Tollard and the W C T U were adopted. A call was made to meet Sunday January 22. A New Landlord James A White has leased Hotel Montgomery on east Philadelphia street and will take charge this month. The gates will be $2 per day. A Leg Amputated William Wise of Hillsdale had his left leg amputated above the knee after typhoid and white swelling led to gangrene. his condition is critical.

Promoted to Conductor Murray Pounds Joins Pennsylvania Run
Murray Pounds of the town is promoted from brakeman to conductor on the Pennsylvania passenger service and assigned to a Pittsburg to Altoona train. He is noted as the youngest conductor with the company. H C Saum and family arrived in Haida India November 14 after leaving here for mission fields. A letter to Indiana friends says all are well and the trip was enjoyed. Center township farm sold. County Superintendent J Stewart of town buys Johnston farm of 110 acres in Center township for 5000 dollars.

Ten New Street Lamps Approved by Town Council

The Oakland Cemetery Association elected officers for the coming year at a Wednesday evening meeting. President Harry W. Wilson, Secretary Henry H. Steving, and directors J. Wood Clark, W. Guthrie, Phil Sutton, A. W. Mabon, Elmer Campbell, and Harry W. Eachart were chosen. Henry V. Steving, Almer Campbell and Phil Sutton serve as board of managers. Last fall the cemetery saw fence repairs, widened drives and walks with crushed stone, shrubbery planting, and removal of objectionable trees. Next, an office and waiting room, a receiving vault, and fence and gate painting are planned.

Tragic House Fire Claims Two Children in Cone Manuel Wire

Accident on Local Branch Injures Man Near Coral Station
Harry Rager of Blacklick was struck by a Pennsylvania railroad passenger train on the Indian branch near Coral station on Saturday at noon. He stood with his head bowed on a railroad tie and did not hear the approaching train. The whistle blew but he remained, was struck by the baggage-car step, and hurled into the run below.
