A giant Fountain Square Christmas tree drew crowds as sleigh bells rang and Santa Claus arrived from the North Pole in a red sleigh pulled by six reindeer. He handed out toys, oranges, and candy, delighting children and onlookers amid falling snow and festive cheers.
Christmas legend ends with the crowd discovering Indian Pete, the town’s frugal recluse, was the anonymous Santa who had donated 80 generously to the season. The wind strips his disguise, prompting cheers as he greets townspeople and accepts their respect.

Mrs Pat Donahue is on the sick list. Lt. Harry Russell of Grisemore called Thursday. Dave Martin made a business trip to Stafford Friday. The Leone family from Heilwood visited Julia Vozer Sunday. Logan Long and family from Rdensburg and Tony Burkhart and children were Patton callers. Howard Williams of Barnesboro called Monday. The Rivetti family welcomed a baby girl at home in a new car.
Frank Kirks family stayed at Luthernburg home over the weekend. Mrs Watt Kinter serves as juror this week. Local hunters Pete Nastase Jay McQuilkin Harry Brady Robert Kirk and others reported antlerless deer. Dr Mahan from Pittsburgh visited, Mrs Chas Brady injured in fall. Carl Miller family and Paul Brady stopped by. Sunday school at Crooked Creek Church next Sunday at 9 45.
Smithport reports John Huff and Rhoda Bennett visiting in Indiana on Tuesday. Roy Conner Blaine Merle and Ord Bennett returned Saturday from a two day antlerless deer hunt in the mountains with a doe each. Angus Dunlap's remains were buried at Rowley cemetery after services at the M H church. A Christmas entertainment is planned at Wesleyan Methodist church and special services at M E church. Steve Sibley of Gipsy called on Tuesday. Carl Houck and Lynn Richardson visited Commodore on Monday. John Huff served as juror last week and came home Thursday.
