Professor George C. Butz Falls to Death at State College
Pennsylvania State College horticulture professor George C. Butz, aged born 1848 in New Castle, leapt from a sixth story window after months of mental distress and indigestion. He leaves a widow and two minor children. A fall from the window struck the stone steps below, killing him instantly. He had returned from treatment in Michigan last week and had recently suffered mood swings. He taught at State College since 1884 and was a noted lecturer on agriculture. Local demonstrations of fruit spraying were announced, with talks on potato blight, to be given by a Department of Agriculture expert at several farms in the area on upcoming dates.
