Tragic self-inflicted gun accident ends life of 19-year-old Edward McDonald
A shooting party near Grip on a Cambria County line farm ended when Edward McDonald forgot he had reloaded his rifle. He placed the barrel in his mouth to blow out dirt, the hammer slipped, the gun discharged, and the bullet entered his brain. Death was instantaneous. He was the son of Joseph McDonald of Grip. Funeral services were held Monday conducted by Rev. Reed at the McDowell graveyard. The accident cast a pall over the neighborhood where the party gathered.

A barn and its contents were burned in White township three miles west of town around 1 o clock last night. Grain and belongings were destroyed. Samuel Cribbs, now living on a different farm, held insurance with Armstrong Township Mutual. No one resided on the property and authorities suspect an incendiary act.

Despondent Blacksmith Succumbs to Morphine Overdose
