The Indiana Automobile Club offers cash prizes totaling 300 dollars to county road supervisors who improve road conditions for the remainder of the season. A portion goes to the road master. prizes range from 100 to 20 dollars. An inspection is planned for October to judge compliance.

During an electrical storm Wednesday C M Goad near Plumville was severely shocked and burned pulling a fuse near an open window when lightning struck the house, tearing the window frame and wrecking the telephone. He remained unconscious for over an hour and suffered burns to the breast face and arms. Former Cherry Tree girl injured in the West Mrs Flavia Smith Thompson, widow of Wendell P Thompson formerly of this place now in Tacoma Washington, was painfully injured August 5 at a camp near that city. While hiking a mountain party descended an incline a cog railroad car struck her on the ankle causing a four inch gash.
At a Monday gathering of Indiana WTU members Mrs Williams and Mrs Imbrie were chosen as delegates to the county WTU convention to be held near Salieburg Thursday and Friday after the fair with Mrs Wolford and Mrs Hilands as alternates. The State Highway Commissioner signed paving specifications for four Indiana streets to be resurfaced this fall. Bids are to be received September 6. The state covers 16 feet of width, with the county and borough each paying one eighth. Streets include North Ninth from Water to the borough line, Oakland Avenue from Church to Thirteenth, Sixth Street from Church to Wayne, and Wayne Avenue from Sixth to the state macadam road at the Fairgrounds.
