Let Grass Get Started Before It Is Pastured
County Agent J. W. Warner advises delaying turnout of cows to pasture until grass is well started and soil settled. Early growth is high in water and low in nutrients, limiting feed. For Indiana county, cows should likely not be turned out until about May 9 to ensure strong root and leaf development and better season-wide pasture.
