Bulgarians to Work Ten Days a Year Under New Law
Premier Alexander I Staniboulisky of Bulgaria announces a compulsory labor bill requiring all women under thirty to contribute at least ten days annually to community work such as garment making for hospitals and care for orphans and the poor. Girls under twenty must study domestic science for three months each year. He claims the volunteer labor army has driven rapid postwar recovery, building roads and utilities, draining swamps, and planting trees, and notes a new prohibition measure may lead Bulgaria toward a dry future similar to the American example.
